Great Use for Old Surfboards

There is nothing more disheartening than a broken surfboard.  If you use your surfboard for many years until you are ready for a new surfboard that's one thing, but if your surfboard is damaged after just a few months of use, it can be really frustrating.

If you are dreading throwing out your old, broken surfboard, we heard of a pretty great solution that we wanted to share with you.

The Gudauskas brothers are collecting used and broken surfboards through their organization, Positive Vibe Warriors.  They plan to fix up the boards and give them to children in Jamaica that are learning to surf. Children in Jamaica are really lacking in equipment due to high tariffs on imported goods and an extreme shortage of local surfboard shapers.
According to the SurferMag.com article, "The Gudangs are Heading a Surfboard Drive" by Davis Jones, Tannery Guadauskas said,
"It’s recycling at its finest. With a board you’ve personally gotten all the joy from, and one that’s kind of reached its expiration, you get to recycle it now, and a little kid is going to feel that same joy."
We hope that they have huge success collecting and refurbishing surfboards. When the brothers go to deliver the surfboards to the youth of Jamaica they also plan on giving free surfing lessons as well as talking about ocean safety.
